Celebrity doctor and former Pennsylvania Senate candidate Mehmet Oz told senators he has the experience and reform ideas necessary to bring down the cost of health care and make Americans healthier in a hearing on Capitol Hill that showcased the former TV host’s penchant for charismatic salesmanship.

Dr. Mehmet Oz, Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, declined to commit to opposing cuts to Medicaid, a government program that provides health care coverage to millions of Americans and that Republicans are eyeing for steep cuts.

O n March 14, Dr. Mehmet Oz will answer questions from members of the Senate Finance Committee in his confirmation hearing to lead the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
