So it was a shock to New York’s political class, and even caught some of her top advisers off guard, when she announced Friday she was endorsing him for mayor.

Ramos endorsed Andrew Cuomo the day after AOC endorsed Zohran Mamdani and two days after a debate between the nine Democratic candidates​.

The decision by Ms. Ramos, a state senator from Queens, is at odds with her frequent criticism of Andrew M. Cuomo, including comments questioning his “mental acuity.”
