Annamalai’s attack on the DMK coincides with him cooling down on the AIADMK since his return to active politics

On alleged sexual assault of a student inside Anna University campus, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi said, “The Chief Minister has ordered action against the culprit without any bias. Accordingly, the accused has been arrested and action has been taken.

Calling the DMK an “evil force,” Annamalai urged the middle class to rise and question the government. He demanded the sacking of the Chennai city police commissioner or at least the deputy commissioner over the Anna University case.

Karnataka BJP said that as a mark of protest, Annamalai symbolically inflicted lashes on himself with a whip, representing divine faith and justice, to condemn the DMK government's inaction.

AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami called for a CBI probe into the rape of a student at Anna University, accusing the DMK of protecting the accused. Palaniswami highlighted the need for strict handling of such crimes and criticized the current government's approach.
