In a historic achievement, Vietnam defeated Thailand in both legs of the 2024 AFF Cup final, marking their third championship win and rewriting tournament history.

Vietnam won 3-2 over Thailand in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Championship final, at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 5. With a 5-3 aggregate victory at the ASEAN Cup final, Vietnam lifted ASEAN Cup trophy.

Many Thai fans expressed admiration for Nguyen Hoang Duc's talent and appearance, showing their affection for the Vietnam midfielder after his stellar performance against Thailand in the 2024 ASEAN Cup final.

Thailand head coach Masatada Ishii revealed that the team had two main objectives going into the tournament: winning the championship and ushering in a generational change within the squad.
