Nigeria's Dangote refinery, Africa's largest, has finally begun delivering petrol, a game changer for the oil-rich country that frequently faces gasoline shortages. Dangote Industries Vice President Devakumar Edwin said that the refinery would meet the "entire requirements of the country" with only 44 percent of its production.

Nigeria’s state-owned energy firm began shipping gasoline from the Dangote Refinery, a step that could end decades of dependence on imports of the fuel for Africa’s largest crude producer.

Nigerian state oil firm NNPC Ltd on Monday increased the price of petrol by 11%, the second increase in two weeks and a day after it started purchasing the fuel from the giant Dangote oil refinery on the outskirts of Lagos.
