Schenectady has put voluntary water restrictions in place for the next two days after a pair of water main breaks at a well in Rotterdam at the city’s Rice Road water treatment facility.

Schenectady is asking residents and businesses to limit water use after a pipe ruptured at the city's water treatment operation in Rotterdam. The extent of the damage and the duration of repair time were both unclear. Mayor Gary McCarthy is expected to say more at a 10:30 a.m. news conference.

The Passaic Valley Water Commission says 18,000 customers in the Riverside section of Paterson have little or no water.
