There was chatter that South Africa could be a viable alternative to organising next year's Champions Trophy. However, according to a report in PTI, no such discussion occurred at the International Cricket Council on Tuesday.

It remained steadfast on its stand to not have the event in hybrid model, like the last year's Asia Cup when India's matches were held in Sri Lanka. The ICC is yet to respond to the PCB and was discussing the schedule with the participating teams.

The BCCI’s decision to keep the Indian team from travelling to Pakistan isn’t entirely unexpected. India-Pakistan relations have been strained for years, with bilateral cricket tours suspended since 2012.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the PCB has written to ICC and asked them to provide them a written confirmation from the BCCI stating that they are unable to take part in the Champions Trophy 2025.

The Indian cricket board has officially written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) addressing the same and the latter waits for a response from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the subject.
