Ted’s Talk: Seahawks attempt to lose the most winnable game vs. Cardinals, still win
There was a lot of good for the first 55ish minutes of the game and a whole lot of angst for the final five minutes. This was a game that the Seahawks should have won handily, and they were lucky they were playing the Cardinals who were missing a huge part of their offense in James Conner.
So there the Seahawks were, 60 yards from the goal line with 28 seconds and a timeout. A 22-yard pass from quarterback Sam Darnold to receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba followed by a four-yard run from tailback Zach Charbonnet allowed the Seahawks to bleed the clock to three seconds, and a 52-yard field goal for the win.
After surrendering a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, the Seattle Seahawks were staring down the barrel of their first overtime situation against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers, however, drilled a redemption kick at the buzzer to preserve the win.
Coby Bryant picked off Kyler Murray only to have Tyrice Knight run into him and force a fumble, which Arizona recovered. Marvin Harrison Jr might as well be a Seahawks double agent because he sure isn’t helping the Cardinals right now. His drop over the middle went into the arms of Ernest Jones IV for another interception.
Seattle’s defense sacked Kyler Murray six times in Thursday night’s win and made the Cardinals offense fight for every yard.
