On Sunday at 9:04 p.m. an updated high surf advisory was released by the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC valid from Monday 10 p.m. until Wednesday 8 p.m. for Northern Outer Banks.
With strong winds and rain expected to impact much of the region, the North Carolina Ferry System announced the temporary suspension of several of its routes Tuesday morning. According to a Facebook post,
Wet weather continues to affect Outer Banks travel. NC-12 is closed in parts, with sand, water, and overwash on secondary roads in Avon and Rodanthe.
