Authorities have identified the woman who burned to death after she was set on fire inside a New York City subway train as 57-year-old Debrina Kawam. At a news conference, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Kawam,

Authorities previously said they were using forensics and video surveillance to identify the victim, who burned to death on a subway car in Brooklyn. The man accused of lighting her on fire, Sebastian Zapeta, 33, was taken into custody hours after police disseminated images of a suspect.

The 57-year-old, of Toms River, N.J., was set on fire as she slept in an F train stopped at the Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. station on Dec. 22.
