This active week of winter weather Hampton Roads is seeing has many people wondering how winter will pan out in the coming weeks and months. 10 On Your Side Meteorologist Steve Fundaro would describe winter in our area as up and down due to active weather patterns.

As a reminder, high-traffic roads, such as interstates, typically get plowed first, followed by side streets and neighborhood roads. Moving your car out of the road, if possible, is also a good idea to give plows as much room as possible.

A winter storms works its way toward Hampton Roads, prompting local leaders to begin delays and closures for weekend activities.

Hampton Roads might get another round of snow and ice this weekend as a nor’easter is expected to move across the South. According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, Hampton Roads has at least a 70% chance of “minor impacts” from the storm,

This system will start initially as snowfall Friday afternoon and evening; however, freezing rain and sleet will mix in with the snow Friday night due to warmer air in the upper levels of the atmosphere.
