The Detroit Red Wings made another investment this week in a young standout, signing Moritz Seider to a seven-year contract worth nearly $60 million.

Moritz Seider, No. 1 on the team's defense depth chart, wasn't at Centre Ice Arena Thursday because the restricted free agent still does not have a new contract.

Moritz Seider signed a seven-year, $59.85 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $8.55 million.
