A violent attack outside a Detroit bar on Sunday morning left one man dead and his brother in critical condition, prompting community leaders and law enforcement to address safety concerns in the area.

Hundreds gathered on Tuesday evening outside of Chita's Nefertiti bar, where a 28-year-old man was shot to death, and his brother was stabbed multiple times over the weekend.

Michael Harris allegedly shot a man outside Chita's Nefertiti Bar after midnight on Sunday. Police said they observed Harris fatally shoot the victim after responding to a separate victim who had been stabbed.

According to authorities, Erik Delano Davis shot and killed retired Detroit police officer Stefon Hodo during an argument in 2022. He reportedly moved his body to another location before breaking into Hodo’s home and stealing his car and gun. Davis is accused of using the stolen gun and car in shootings two days later.
