Rain has returned to the Bay Area, along with strong winds, as the first storm system enters the region. Follow along for live updates through the day.

A cold front will bring showers and storms through this morning. A few storms could be strong or possibly severe. The main hazard would be strong winds of 40 to 60 mph, but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

The first of two waves of rain arrived in the Bay Area early Wednesday, March 5. Rain is likely to be heaviest on the Peninsula and in the South Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains, the National Weather Service said. After a break Wednesday afternoon, the second system is expected to arrive in the early hours of Thursday.
