Protesters and police clashed in the streets of Valencia in eastern Spain on Saturday, as tens of thousands of people marched to demand the regional president resign over his response to floods that killed more than 220 people.

Thousands of Spaniards have marched in the eastern city of Valencia to demand the resignation of the regional president in charge of the emergency response to last week’s catastrophic floods that left more than 200 dead and several others missing.

In the wake of catastrophic floods that have claimed over 200 lives in Valencia, Spain, tens of thousands of residents have taken to the streets demanding the resignation of regional president Carlos Mazón.

Demonstrators, who packed Valencia's city centre, called for the resignation of regional leader Carlos Mazon, chanting “Killers!” Banners carried messages like “Our hands are stained with mud, yours with blood,” and some protesters left muddy boots outside the government building, while others smeared it with mud.
