A total of 13 people have been killed in the country this year in wildfires that have flared amid strong winds, high temperatures and dry conditions

On the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus, firefighters battled for a second day to control a massive wildfire which engulfed mountain villages north of the city of Limassol. Six countries from Spain to Jordan were deploying aid, officials said.

At least 10 forestry and rescue workers have been killed while battling wildfires in Turkey's central Eskisehir province. Some 24 forest workers and volunteer rescue personnel were left "trapped inside the fire" following a change in the direction of the wind, Turkey's Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli said in a post on X.
