Senator Joe Gruters of Sarasota County filed a bill this week that, if passed, would change the name of the 284-mile Tamiami Trail highway to the "Gulf of America Trail."

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is the latest Florida agency to announce plans to implement the name "Gulf of America."

A Florida senator has filed a bill to change a stretch of U.S. Highway 41 known as the Tamiami Trail to the "Gulf of America Trail."

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said it will implement a "Gulf of America" name change to all of its Commission materials.

Sarasota, has filed Senate Bill 1058 to rename part of U.S. 41 commonly known as Tamiami Trail to "Gulf of America Trail."
