Denny’s, the popular American diner chain, has joined a growing number of restaurants responding to the nationwide egg shortage by adding a temporary surcharge to egg-based meals.

The move comes after Waffle House began charging an extra 50 cents per egg last month. Denny’s is the latest restaurant chain to add a temporary egg surcharge due to the rising cost of eggs caused by a nationwide shortage and the current bird flu outbreak.
