Rumors are swirling that Six Flags Great Adventure's Kingda Ka roller coaster is closing, and fans are outpouring love for the world's tallest thrill ride.

The park has not filed at notice with the state that the ride is shutting down, Lisa Ryan, a spokesperson for the state Department of Community Affairs, told NJ Advance Media. Theme parks are not required to submit notice of closure, they would just let the permit lapse if not opening the ride for the next season, she said.

For a while it was pure speculation, but it has been confirmed with the NJ101.5 news room that Kingda Ka, which debuted as the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world in 2005, is closing. You can read Dan Alexander’s article on that here.
