Fire crews continue to make steady progress on the Ranch Fire, now at 40% containment. Smoke remains visible in some interior areas of the burn. Ground crews are actively patrolling to pinpoint smokes and extinguish remaining heat with support from water-dropping helicopters.

Ranch is California’s second-largest wildfire since January, when fires burned about 50,000 acres in Los Angeles County.
