Celtics center Neemias Queta became the first Portuguese player to start an NBA game on Monday night when he took the floor for Boston in its win over the Hawks. It’s one of several firsts for Queta, who became the first Portuguese player to play in an NBA game in 2021 and the first Portuguese player to win an NBA championship last June.
Celtics' Neemias Queta: Nears double-double in spot start
Queta made the first start of his NBA career and looked good operating in the frontcourt alongside Al Horford. However, Queta's presence in the starting lineup is expected to be a short one. Luke Kornet could move into a starting role for Wednesday's matchup against the Warriors in case Jaylen Brown (hip) is ruled out and Boston decides to play with a traditional lineup once again.
