Ben McCollum continues to bring some important pieces from Drake over to Iowa City now that he's head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa men's basketball head coach Ben McCollum has officially hired a pair of assistants to his first coaching staff with the Hawkeyes.

Kael Combs started at Wyoming before joining McCollum at Drake. He played 13 minutes per game for McCollum’s 31-4 Bulldogs.

Ben McCollum and his family pulled up to Carver-Hawkeye Arena as passengers in a black Chevy Suburban 15 minutes before his scheduled introductory news conference as Iowa’s new men’s basketball coach on Tuesday.

Based on the circumstances, Iowa is tasked with reconstructing the roster in a way that the program hasn’t been accustomed to in recent history.

Cam Manyawu and Kael Combs, both part of McCollum’s rotation on his Missouri Valley Conferece-championship team, are becoming Hawkeyes.
