The main villain and title of the upcoming fifth Avengers film were revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con panel. Robert Downey Jr. will play the titular antagonist, Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom.

M arvel fans are still reeling from the news that Robert Downey, Jr. has been cast as Doctor Doom in the MCU. We’re all still trying to wrap our heads around the question of how the man who made Iron Man a household name can now be playing arguably Marvel’s biggest supervillain.

Anthony Mackie's Cap will now face off against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday with a new team of Avengers, although the other heroes comprising the latest iteration of the Avengers are still to be confirmed.
