Marco Sturm got his first taste of the passionate Bruins fans when he was traded to Boston for No. 1 overall draft pick and soon-to-be MVP Joe Thornton.

Marco Sturm understood how special it was to be a member of the Boston Bruins during his five seasons as a player. But being named the new head coach of the Original Six franchise has brought about a whole new rush of feelings for the 46-year-old.

So, drawing too many conclusions from Marco Sturm’s introductory press conference as the new head coach of the Bruins would be foolish. But, in his first public appearance as an NHL head coach, Sturm came off as comfortable, confident and intelligent. His German accent even added a bit of gravitas. But only time and games will show if he is ready.
