Greg Papa, a Buffalo native and longtime Bay Area radio voice, says he has been diagnosed with cancer and will step away from his broadcast duties for now.

The 49ers posted a statement on social media shortly after the announcement on KNBR: “The 49ers family extends our unwavering love and support to Greg Papa and his family following his recent cancer diagnosis. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the radio booth as the ‘voice of the 49ers’ whenever he is ready.”

Greg Papa is the radio voice of the San Francisco 49ers on KNBR. He's also covered the Giants and Athletics, the Oakland Raiders and Golden State Warriors for decades.
