Jannik Sinner retired from his Cincinnati Open final against young rival Carlos Alcaraz after losing the first five games of the match and struggling with illness. The World No 1 apologised and said sorry to the fans after pulling out from the final when he lost his third service game in a row to trail Alcaraz 5-0 in the first set.

Carlos Alcaraz won the Cincinnati Open title in a little more than 20 minutes after top-ranked Jannik Sinner was forced to retire because of illness during the first set.
