ARLINGTON — It took eight days to decide the fate of Mike McCarthy and this Cowboys coaching staff, and Jerry Jones will have a new head coach on the Dallas Cowboys sideline in 2025. Here are five names that we think make sense (in a Jerry sort of way) as your next Dallas head coach now that a change is being made.

Jerry Jones once famously said 500 coaches could have won Super Bowls with those early 1990s Dallas Cowboys teams. The owner and general manager has made six hires since winning two Super Bowls with Jimmy Johnson and one with Barry Switzer. None that have followed have been able to get the Cowboys past the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Dallas Cowboys had to make one of the hardest decisions of Jerry Jones' ownership when they decided not to renew McCarthy's contract before Tuesday's deadline.  This was the right move, regardless of McCarthy's pedigree and success in the NFL-- even in Dallas.
