Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski argued there's pressure on quarterback Michael Penix Jr. because Kirk Cousins could replace him if he plays poorly.

Penix is about to start in his first full season after taking over for Cousins in 2024, after a down year for the veteran. All offseason it was all about the Cousins trade rumors, but it looks like he will stick around and be the veteran leader to help out the young quarterback.

After an offseason filled with trade speculation, the Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Kirk Cousins are moving forward together. The team has been unable to find a trade partner, and while Cousins would prefer to play elsewhere, he showed up for Day 1 of mandatory minicamp and did his job.
