A powerful winter storm brought the heaviest snow of the season to Connecticut Friday night, dumping up to 9 inches of snow in some areas.
Citing the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, DOT shared that in 2022 “there were 498 fatal traffic crashes and an estimated 32,213 injury crashes that occurred when there was snow and/or sleet conditions at the time of the crash. CTDOT emphasizes that preparation is essential for safe winter driving.”
Connecticut residents are digging out Saturday morning after a storm dropped several inches of snow across the state.
Snowfall in New York totaled around 4 inches, but short of what could have been the city’s biggest storm event in years.
Accumulating snowfall is likely on Tuesday especially away from the south coast, beginning in the morning and ending in the evening. Accumulations are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches along and west of I-95, with an inch or less near south coast. pic.twitter.com/wDNtxsd9sC
Many cities and downs are enforcing parking bans to give snowplows space to clear the streets. People are asked to stay off the roads if at all possible.
