Hi Bryan I’m not sure where you have been seeking information other than on TripAdviser. That section of the cave was not open when I visited last summer . My review of the caves is available on TA. I doubt that the caves administration would tell you. Their priority is revenue, not customer service. Unless you have other reasons for travelling to Belogradchik, I would seriously consider using that time elsewhere. It’s uncommon that I suggest not going somewhere but while the castle and rocks are nice enough but I wouldn’t travel to Belogradchik for that alone. I wouldn’t suggest wasting your time and money in the caves, if the paintings are not accessible. The caves are otherwise disappointing The stalactites and stalagmites are dirty from pollution and poor conservation. Lights seem to be left on between tour groups, leading to algae growth that should not be there. Because the paths are wet and slippery, I spent the whole trip looking at my feet, having fallen over twice. If you do choose to go, don’t carry a rucksack. It makes walking difficult on the slippery surface. I’m happy to help if you have other questions.
