Borovets is situated on the northern slopes of Rila mountain, at an elevation of 1,350 m. It is located approximately 10 km from Samokov and 70 km from Sofia. Borovets has a humid continental climate with long, cold, and snowy winters and short, warm, and rainy summers with cool nights.
